The suggestion < Disable option “Hide pointer when typing” > works only in document type applications such as Word, Excel, Note Pad, etc… It doesn't hide the cursor when in web based e-mails, java forms, etc…
I have a Sony Vaio with Windows 7 pro and been struggling with this. I haven't tried the ToughFreeze solution. That is next.

I tried both the TouchFreeze, and unchecking the hide pointer box.  Still have cursor jumping when typing.

What can I do to permanantly fix this problem? It is impossible to type anything in Word or email!!!

  4. Danielle says:

Ralph, did TouchFreeze work for you?  I have a Sony Vaio Windows 7 as well, and wanted to know if you solved the problem and how.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 and just installed Windows 7 did have Vista and never had this problem. Also I am NOT hitting thr mouse pad and that was the first thing I thought of and adjusted sensitivty. I HATE THIS!!!!!

HERE IS THE FIX WITHOUT ADDING SOFTWARE:
Uncheck “Enhance Pointer Precision” under Mouse Options. That fixed this problem on both my laptops. People kept saying ‘you must be touching the touchpad’ when I knew I wasn’t.
