Have you been trying to install new cursors in Windows 7, but you simply don’t know how to do it? Here’s a tutorial that will help you to install new cursors in Windows 7.

How to install Windows 7 Cursors

Extract Windows 7 Cursors

First of all download cursors for Windows 7 from this site. Next extract the cursors to your hard drive:

Extract Windows Cursors

I’m using WinRAR to extract the cursors, but feel free to use the built-in Windows zip-program.
If you want to remember where the cursors are, you should extract the cursors to the folder C:/Windows/Cursors/

Control Panel: Mouse Settings

To install your new Windows 7 cursors, you will need to open the control panel. Open the start menu and click on it. Next, double-click on “Mouse”:

Replace Windows 7 Default Mouse Cursors

You will have to replace the default Windows 7 cursors with your new cursors. To do that open up the tab “Mouse Pointers” and then click on the first cursor in the list. Click on “Brows” and locate the folder where you saved your cursors:

Select Windows 7 Cursor

You will have to select a new cursor for every mouse gesture. Since there are many mouse gestures, this is quite a bit of work, but it’s well worth it!!

Select Windows 7 Cursors

Repeat this step for every mouse gesture:

  • Help Select,
  • Working in Background,
  • Busy,
  • Precision Select,
  • Text Select,
  • Handwriting,
  • Unavailable,
  • Vertical Resize,
  • Horizontal Resize,
  • Diagonal Resize 1,
  • Diagonal Resize 2,
  • Move,
  • Alternate Select,
  • Link
